You know that cliché statement “everything happens for a reason”? Well, I had a serious a-ha moment this week that spawned from the by passing of a $5 pair of denim shorts. Let me explain.
Last weekend, I spent a whirlwind 37 hours in NYC. While traveling my replacement charger for my iPad suddenly stopped working. No biggie, right? When I returned home I purchased a new one, at a variety store that also sold home decor and miscellaneous clothing items. I dunno about you, but I make lists upon lists of things that I either need to replace or add to my wardrobe frequently. Denim shorts of any kind have been a fixation lately.
So, when I went straight towards electronics and walked past a cute pair of white distressed shorts (that were practically free and just $5 btw) why didn’t I grab my size and just buy it? I don’t know about you but I find myself guilty of not indulging myself. While I intentionally went to that store to purchase a charger what was it about my mindset that did not resonate that I could also purchase the shorts that I already knew I needed and wanted.
What I learned from this seemingly insignificant event is that while I have made significant progress, that I still have a ways to go in how I prioritize myself , daily. When I started the style sophisticates facebook group and style coaching program it was with the intention of helping women as I help myself take more pride in becoming the woman I always aspired to be.
As you will learn in future posts I am an active volunteer and believer in the notion of giving = receiving. Prioritizing yourself and evolving into the best version of yourself doesn’t need to be a solo journey and it would be my honor to help… you’re beautiful and it’s time we celebrate that, xxG
